15 February, 2011

poor man's gard{en}

this week has been
devoted to
the flea market
{which is this
upcoming sunday}
but i thought i would
share some photos
of the progress
of our little garden.

last week, mr. amazing
strung wire from the
edge of the roof to the ground.
this way we can train the small
trees/bushes along our garage
to group up the wire.
it is a much cheaper version
of lattice. just more work.
ask mr. amazing...

here is what the side
of our garage looks like now.

just for fun i thought i would
show you what it looked like
six months ago.

they went crazy!
i can't wait until the plants
are covering the entire side
of our garage.

keep in mind we are painting
the outside of the house/garage
sometime this spring. that will definitely
help..

oh, and here are a few photos
of some of the plants we will
be planting in the front yard.
once we prepare the soil...

i cannot wait until spring
finally arrives and it warms up.
but for now, i can enjoy the rain.

hope you are enjoying your tuesday
friends.

for those of you who can make it,
i am looking forward to seeing you
this sunday!

                     .jessnicole.

disregard{en} @ the flea market!

i am SO excited to
invite you
to visit me in west hollywood
this coming sunday, february 20th
at the
melrose trading post
from 9:00am-5:00pm.

it is a great flea market in los angeles.
full of handmade items, antiques, collectibles
music and food.
the best part, okay besides the fact that i will
be there, is the fact that
the flea market was created
to support Fairfax High School
arts department.
the money raised
(mostly from renting spots to the vendors)
goes toward activities and
purchases not covered in the school's budget.
seriously amazing.
you can check out more information
about the melrose trading post here.

and, and, and,
if you are thinking about stopping by
this sunday, february 20th from 9am-5pm,
print this coupon out. click here.
you get $1 off admission.
then, it only costs you $1 to get in
(and, there is free parking).
more money to spend while
finding treasures.

i will be selling
the items i have been featuring
the last few months.
like these and this and this.
and plenty more.

i would LOVE to see you all there
if you are in town.
it is going to be my very first
time selling at the flea market and
i am super excited.
it will be a beautiful sunday.
especially if you visit me.
{oh, and we will be selling
with our friends.
they are such a creative couple.
you'll love their items, too)

have a great week friends!
see you on sunday.

                           .jessnicole.

11 February, 2011

[free]day

oh, it's just another
beautiful and sunny
[free]day
no big deal.

i only have a bazillion
pieces stashed in the garage
and shed.
some of them are already in process
of redemption.
some haven't been touched.

but i thought i'd share
two great ones today.

madame flora

and

miss viola

they are both divine.
i pretty much want
to keep them.
but i can't keep doing that.
because then my house will be
overflowing. oh, wait, it already is...
don't worry. they'll be available
for purchase
at the flea market.
{details to come this next week}

have an amazing weekend friends!!!
i will be busy painting and sewing
away in preparation for the flea market in
about a week. oh dear.

                   .jessnicole.

ps: a big thank you to beautiful lindsay
for madame flora. lindsay is a fellow
artist. check her stuff out here.
her stuff is great!

lost&found

i cannot believe it is already
thursday.
there is still so much to get ready
for the flea market in two weeks...
ah!

but i have finished a few pieces
and cannot wait to show them to my
wonderful friends.

here are three new
'lost & founds'

remember beautiful
amelia?

she was once hidden
and forgotten.
very lost

and is now vibrant and the center
of attention.
and very very found.

she loves to bring life to any room.

remember little miss
jill?

she was once left on the side of the road
rather worn in.
very lost.

and now she loves to play dress up,
read books and sit at a table
to make art with wonderful children.
so found.

and
mister and missus
they are the perfect fit.
both were once slightly
lost

and now wonderfully
found.
together.

they love to store treasures
alongside your bed or sofa.
and bring life to any room.

don't you just love
seeing the transformation
of each piece?

i love it.

and, i love you all.
and appreciate you very much.

the pieces featured today will
be for sale at the melrose trading post
(flea market)
in two weeks.
ah again!

have a wonderful thursday
friends.

08 February, 2011

poor man's gard{en}

i am so proud of us.
we finished the kitchen at my dad's.
and, jonathan, i mean mr. amazing, finished
painting my dad's living room
(minus the trim)
and we finished the next stage of our
guest room.
phew.

you might want to hire us as your
professional
painters/designers/decorators/kitchen organizers
because we finished my dad's kitchen and living room
(well, the first stage)
under 20 hours.
yes, i know.
feel free to contact me with your
next project (smile).

here are some photos of my dad's
kitchen and living room.
i actually took these before we finished
the details. i had to get in a few
photos before the lighting made it impossible...

this is what it looked like before
our amazing painting skills

and this is what it looked like
after the twenty hours

remember, we haven't stained the floors
or replaced old appliances yet.
{and i promise i will take a photo
with a view of the entire kitchen next time}
i know the tile is hideous. but i am going to
apply my savvy decor skills and
bring the burnt orange to other places.
the color scheme of the kitchen/living room area
will be greens/blues/burnt orange/neutrals.
i think.

oh, and here is the living room
before photo

look at those high ceilings.
and after mr. amazing applied his painting skills

so much better.
i mean, we still have to stain floors, window sills,
add curtains, furniture & accents...
and that is just the living room. phew!
baby steps.

i am not sure when we are working on the next stage
but i will definitely keep you posted.

i think we'll try and work on our house
over the next few months...
like landscaping and painting the outside.
i know. we are crazy. but we love it.

here are a few photos of our new guestroom.
keep in mind the main furniture pieces
(the bed, dresser, desk, & some accents)
were all given to us.
yes. free.

thank you to phil & debbi for
the amazing dresser, cindee for the bed frame,
lindsay for the metal ceiling tile,
and our fellow craigslist free-er for our
desk.
i wanted to be a guest in our house yesterday.
this isn't the final stage but that should be
assumed as we always have new projects up our sleeves.

and, speaking of projects, i have been
working away on some new furniture pieces!
so stay tuned for 'lost&found' thursday.

there might even be more
than one project featured!?!?

hope you enjoy your tuesday
my loving and supportive friends.

                    .jessnicole.

04 February, 2011

[free]day

favorite day: freeday!

this pair is inseparable.
and they are a perfect match.
they love to store treasures
alongside your bed or sofa.
and bring life to any room.

mister and missus

{photo only shows the missus.
or maybe the mister. i don't know.
they are identical...}

i hope you are enjoying your friday dear
friends. and thank you to my new followers
for 'following' me. i feel loved.

mr. amazing and i are heading to my
dad's today to work on his
forgotten kitchen.
see his kitchen posted here.
we'll be sanding and
painting the next two days.
and we will complete it. will.
photos to follow.

have a wonderful weekend.
stay warm if you live outside
southern california.
and bundle up if you are living
in a blizzard...
  enjoy your
last month and a half of
winter weather fellow californians.
don't you love living here? sigh.
