a thursday update...

you will have to forgive

me sweet friends.

i did not post tuesday for

'poor man's gard{en}' 

and i do not have a piece

finished for today's 

'lost & found'

sigh.

but i have definitely

been working hard.

mr. amazing and i 

went to the melrose trading post

last sunday to scope it out

and see if it will be a good

fit for disregard{en}.

i think we found the flea market

i'll be selling at. yay!

definite dates to come.

so remember how in this post

i wrote out a list of

things i needed to do before 

selling at the flea market?!

well, the list just keeps getting

longer. huh. wonder why....ha!

i have about six new pieces i am 

currently working on

and 

tons of merchandise for the home.

so just hold on a little bit longer.

you won't be disappointed.

in fact, you will be rewarded. 

just remember to leave a little note

on what inspires you!

here is something that has inspired me 

for the day

poor man's gard[en]

this past saturday

mr. amazing 

 lived up to his name.

again. 

while i was at work,

he found the most wonderfully 

forgotten dresser. 

we think it was made in the 

late 1800s to early 1900s.

the handles are iodized, 

the wood finish is chipping & worn,

the craftsmanship is unique 

and each drawer has a keyhole.

seriously.

and, we ended up selling our old

dresser {& some rugs} which paid

for our new dresser. almost in full.

perfect.

i LOVE it. it fits everything.

even my trillion pairs of jeans.

what dresser does that?

oh, yes. the 100 year old dressers

{even though they hardly wore jeans back then} 

we know the dresser was handmade

and seems like it was custom built.

there is no stamp or label on it, and each drawer 

fits perfectly into

the drawer frame.

 we think this means some individual built it

for someone special. 

maybe a lover for his bride.

that is what i will believe.

and though the piece is absolutely not for sale,

i think i would like to name it.

 after much debate, mr. amazing and i 

have decided we shall name him 

{even though i would prefer it to be a her}

'clarence'

because he is by far our favorite piece 

of furniture we own.

thus far.

so though this is not necessarily 

an improvement to the structure & interior

of our home or our garden, he wonderfully

enhances our poor man's gard{en}:interior, 

into a rich & lovely landscape.

here is what clarence looked like 

the night we bought him.

and this is what he looks like now.

he just needed some cleaning.

he fits perfectly in our home.

my day has been rather full. 

but i am looking forward to chili for dinner

and some much needed time with jonathan.

do i have some inspiration & fun for you 

guys today!!!!

first of all. i love this weather. 

capital l.o.v.e.

i cannot wait until fall. 

jonathan and i did not have any

time to work on our garden this past week 

{aside from jonathan pruning our herbs & plants}

so there is not much to show...

but

we are looking forward to improvements,

beauty & life in our poor man's gard[en].

here are some photos that have inspired us.

these two photos continue to make me swoon

over overgrown gardens. i just love them. 

i cannot wait until i have to creep through my

overgrown garden. to get lost in it. to play in it.

to dream in it. sigh.

and this harvested squash reminds me

that i will be harvesting summer squash soon.

and, i cannot wait. we have to plant the

squash first. but that's easy. right?! 

{minus the whole cultivating & preparing the soil part}

and this hose makes me actually like garden hoses.

ours is an eye sore. why do they have to be so ugly?

and awkward. i prefer to fill up a cool, old

watering can to water. even if it takes longer.

and these two photos i've come across

so many times now, i thought i'd share them with you.

aren't they both so inspiring for enjoying the outdoors?

i don't even know what i would do with a tree framed bed

in my backyard. take naps all day. it just looks

so inviting, doesn't it?

 

and these two photos are inspiring for 

apartment or small home living. you can 

have a garden. even if you don't have space.

you can make space. promise.

and i came across an article about things

you can grow in containers. 

you can even grow fruit trees. 66 things.

jonathan and i are going to pick up some

for planting & growing.

isn't it so fun?! 

i wish i came up with the idea myself.

it did get me thinking about some

quirky upcycles & ideas though.

anything.

jonathan and i are loving our
mini- vacation along the
pacific ocean. 
we are heading back home tomorrow
& ready to get back into our 
regular schedule. sort of.

it's not a lost&found kinda day...

only because we are working on our kitchen

floor today. the prep part of it.

okay, well, mostly jonathan.

but i'm helping. 

so i know thursdays are normally

days that i show off my lost & found

pieces but i haven't had much time 

this week to do that. so, 

here are some photos to show you

what stage we are at with

the kitchen floor transformation:

ugly. yes. but it has to get ugly

before it can become beautiful. 

oh, and it smells. the glue used 

to lay the cheap laminate down

was at least 30 years old. at least.

and there were three, i repeat, three

layers of laminate that had to be 

ripped up. my husband is the best.

so because i need to be inspired

with beauty after looking at my kitchen

i thought i would share some of my

finds with you.

on a more personal note, these last few

months have been so fun for me.

it has been so freeing to dream and create.

sometimes i am not quite sure what my taste

is because i love everything beautiful, and

want to paint & use everything i come across. 

i love the all white, romantic look, i love

the bright, funky look. i love the eclectic look 

and i love the clean, sophisticated look.

ah! see?! everything. 

but i am so glad you on this creative journey 

with me. i have felt so encouraged in these

last few months by all of the responses

and messages sent my way.
