poor man's gard{en}

i am so ready for fall weather.
especially since
painting pieces for disregard{en}
means being outside.
i melt. literally.

here is a fun new addition
to our
poor man's gard{en}

mr. amazing (my husband, jonathan)
 built these crates
out of reclaimed, 100-year-old
baseboards. then he connected them
and made them a bookcase.
and surprised me with it.
i love him.
it makes our poor man's gard{en}: living room
all that more unique and special.

i hope you had a great tuesday
friends.

see you for lost&found
on thursday!

xoxo

30 August, 2011

poor man's gard{en}

so mr. amazing and i were
privileged to work with
an amazing local
interior designer
this past month.
she was redecorating
a young teenagers room
and saw disregard{en} at melrose trading post
and was super excited to have
a disregard{en}ed touch...

so, here is what i got to design
and mr. amazing got to build
{he really is amazing, isn't he?!}
a perfect bookcase:

made from reclaimed wood found in
an old warehouse. at least 100 years old.
insane. can you imagine the stories behind
each board?!

we loved the bookcase so much, we decided to make
one for our own poor man's gard{en}.
photos to come next week!

and, she also wanted
some of our chalkboard frames:

we had so much fun & loved connecting
with our new best friends.

hoping you had a fantabulous tuesday.
mine was productive and crazy.

xoxo

23 August, 2011

poor man's gard{en}

it's been so long!!!

i hope you didn't miss me too much.
but i sure missed all of you.
thank you for the love & support
while i was away these past three weeks.
three. sheesh.

mr. amazing and i spent our first week
down in temecula with dear friends.
and helped get two of them married.
well, more like helped prepare
their special day.

then, we drove up to portland.
17 hours. almost 18. yes. i know.
be jealous. except it was so special to drive
up with friends who we don't see very often.
and, of course, we ate and drank our way
through the city. that's pretty much all we did.
and enjoyed the gorgeous city.
oh, we went to powell's and a kickball game.
yes.

then we took a train up to washington & went fishing.
and drove over to seattle & spent our last night
in that spectacular city.
my first time.
so of course we went to pike's place &
took the elevator up to the space needle
(we drank a beer & ate haribo gummi
bears while watching the sunset. so romantic)
and ate donuts, pizza & drank more beer.
we also walked to lovely park.

here are some photos of our trip
{warning: they are mostly of food & fine beverage}

my vacation started like this. in temecula.

delicious breakfast at jam cafe
on hawthorne. ugh. i want it right now.

heading into downtown portland.

some of the best coffee in portland.

handsome mister amazing at coffeehouse northwest.

a little beer.
don't worry. i got more later.

local breweries in p town. perfection.

the biggest dahlia i've ever seen. at least 9 inches diameter.
seriously.

picked fresh blueberries. sooo good.

taken on my 7 mile run near the willamette.
it's a sign. literally. i know. i'm clever.

first day in seattle. pike place.

top pot donuts in seattle. good thing i don't live there.
i'd be large.

volunteer park in seattle. so pretty.

pizza at serious pie in seattle. mmm.

and this last week has consisted of preparing for
the flea market this past sunday.

we were well rested but jumping right back into
things definitely took a bit of adjusting.

so, of course, i have a few flea market
photos to share with you
on this
poor man's gard{en} sort of day

i hope you have had a wonderful month of august.
september is around the corner
and there are some exciting things happening
over here this next month & a half. cannot wait
to share.

poor man's gard{en} - belated

one day late.
that's all.
but look at those tomatoes
and our grapevines!!

i've been busy over here
gathering up some items
for the weddings i'm styling in
these upcoming months,
working on a few custom items
(which you might just get a sneak peak of tomorrow)
and
dreaming up some new business ventures
for disregard{en}.
cannot wait to share as things progress
a bit more.
oh, and preparing for our weeklong vacation
coming up on saturday.
phew.

hope you have had a wonderful
week so far.

xoxo

19 July, 2011

poor man's gard{en}

it's poor man's garden.
at ten o'clock in the evening.
today was a full day.

we had so much fun at
melrose trading post
this past sunday.
met some new friends, sold pieces
to some great new clients
and enjoyed the lovely sunshine.

but i'm exhausted.
on numerous fronts.
so i treated myself to a new outfit today.
it was necessary.

but back to why i am blogging.
here are some photos of this past sunday.

fun, huh?
and we love selling with our friends,
aaron & jen, who own vintage homegrown.
check them out. they are AMAZING.
they make the coolest pieces out of
reclaimed wood -- like tables, and
light fixtures, and jewelry.
love.

i hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable
weekend.
looking forward to showing you some new pieces
this week
and
sharing disregard{en}'s new look
in the next few weeks.
lots of changes going on here
& i'm super excited.

happy tuesday.
love.

12 July, 2011

poor man's gard{en} & a little vacation

this last weekend of vacation
up to tahoe & san francisco
has definitely made me feel
slightly out of it. what day is it?!

it's already tuesday?
it feels like saturday.
maybe friday.

well, i have some photos to share with you
of our trip up north.
disregard{en} is going to be
bringing beauty to a wedding
up in tahoe in september
so we did some
pre-wedding planning & dreaming.
the sight is stunning & the style is going
to be fabulous.
and flowers from san francisco are
going to be perfect!

here are some photos of the beauty
and fun we got to experience on our trip.

i cannot WAIT to go back in September!!!

on the 395
our morning view in tahoe. amazing.
some waterfalls.
enough said.
the ceiling at suppenkuche - a restaurant with
yummy german food in san fran
the palace of fine arts in san fran

we found our way from tahoe to sacramento to san francisco
over 1000 miles, amazing coffee & food, gorgeous views,
lovely friends and creativity. it was a perfect
mini-vacation.

oh, and
mr. amazing and i are going to be in newport
with his parents for the next few days for another vacation.
but don't worry, i'll work a little bit...
ha.

hope you had a wonderful weekend.
can't wait to show you some new work
in the next few days!!!

poor man's gard{en} - belated

disregard{en} sold
at two different markets
this past weekend.
the sunset junction in silverlake
and
the wonderful melrose trading post

if you didn't get a chance
to visit at either,
here are some photos
of disregard{en}'s
traveling shops.
it's the traveling
poor man's gard{en}

ha.

sunset junction

and

melrose trading post

both days were extremely hot but
wonderful. we got to connect with great friends
and made some lovely new ones!

thanks for your patience this week
while i recovered from
quite an exhausting few days.
i think i'm almost 100% myself.
and i don't think i want to do back to back
sales very often.
one per weekend is enough for me.
yep.

love to you again!
